pp120 | Stool

design — Hans J. Wegner, 1954

Wegner designed this stool as an accessory to the pp19 Papa Bear Chair. In spite of this intention it naturally accompanies most other easy chairs in PP Møbler’s product line.

The stool is a strong construction with legs that penetrate and interlock with the solid beech wood frame using traditional joinery and the upholstery is made of horsehair and cotton. It is by no means a trivial product, but a genuine piece of exquisite craft.

Wegner clearly demonstrated this himself on several occasions presenting the stool along with many other easy chairs. In this way, the stool exemplifies a similar kind of universal design as the pp35 Tray Table.

On either side of the centerpiece, which is similar in every way to a seat, are two handles. These allow for easy relocation and movement without obstruction.
